7th TE Connectivity Global AI Cup Concludes: Chinese University Students Use AI to Solve Real-World Manufacturing and Supply Chain Challenges

August 17, 2026

The 7th TE AI Cup, hosted by TE Connectivity (TE), a global leader in industrial technology, recently concluded. Seventy-three student teams from 27 universities worldwide developed artificial intelligence (AI) solutions addressing real-world challenges in manufacturing and supply chain operations. This year, three university teams—from China and Mexico—won the global competition's first-place award. Several winning solutions have already been deployed within TE’s operations; notably, the AI-based production scheduling system that took the top prize is now operational across six production lines at TE’s Zhuhai manufacturing facility.

Since its inception in 2018, the TE AI Cup has been dedicated to bridging the gap between global university talent and TE’s operational practices, inviting students to collaborate closely with TE teams and academic mentors to address real-world industrial needs using AI technology. Over the past seven years, the competition has continuously evolved in scale, technical depth, and business relevance; this progress reflects the expanding scope of AI applications in the industrial sector and underscores TE’s enduring commitment to cultivating future AI talent through industry-academia-research collaboration.
